The POE system consists of two core components: PSE (Power Supply Equipment) and PD (Powered Equipment). The PSE is located at the front end of the system and is responsible for combining the power supply with the signal and sending it to the PD, which is responsible for separating the power from the received signal.

To put it simply, POE technology uses Ethernet cables to provide 48V DC power supply during data transmission, realizing first-line power supply for IP phones, webcams and other devices. This allows for easy and reliable network connectivity and power supply to the device, eliminating the need for additional power cabling, and supporting remote power control.

In order to standardize and promote the development of PoE power supply technology and solve the problem of adaptability between power supply and receiving equipment from different manufacturers, the IEEE Standards Committee has successively released three PoE standards: IEEE 802.3af standard, IEEE 802.3at standard, and IEEE 802.3bt standard. The evolution of PoE technology is a process of increasing power supply.

From 15W in IEEE 802.3af, to 30W in IEEE 802.3at, and 90W, the highest in IEEE 802.3bt, the continuous improvement of PoE power supply power has led to an increasing number of PoE adaptation applications.

PoE can use CAT-5 to transmit power from the line, and it has both data and power line functions. The adoption of PoE in remote systems will simplify the system architecture and greatly reduce the number of cables, which is not only easy to maintain, easy to use, but also reduces costs. PoE is both stable and secure, and it also has remote monitoring functions without the need for adapters.
